The most common reason for the faucet to be leaking from the spout is that the seals attached to the stem may be bad, and need to be replaced. There is also a chance that the end of the stem is broken, and the stem may need to be replaced. If the faucet has been leaking for a long period of time there is a chance that the seat may be cut. Once the seat is cut the faucet would have to be replaced.
